J.F. is currently handling complex corporate litigation matters, involving derivative actions, oppression remedies, shareholder disputes, and restructuring and insolvency matters.
J.F. also represents municipalities with the handling of complex litigation involving major capital projects such as the design and construction of waste water treatment systems and bridges.
J.F. has developed a thriving employment law practice, advising and representing both employers and employees on matters involving wrongful dismissal, severance packages, employment standards compliance, disability management, and human rights issues.
J.F. continues to represent a wide range of clients including businesses, municipalities, insurance companies, government agencies, and individual plaintiffs, tailoring his approach to meet the unique needs of each client.
J.F. has achieved much success as a litigator and appellate lawyer. As an example, between June 2021 and December 2025, he won ten consecutive appeals before the Ontario Court of Appeal and Divisional Court, including three cases where he persuaded the appellate court to overturn lower court decisions — a testament to his strong analytical skills and persuasive advocacy.
Fluently bilingual in English and French, J.F. provides legal services to clients in both official languages. Before joining Vice & Hunter LLP, he earned his LL.B. from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law in 2004, after completing his undergraduate studies at the same institution. He has also taught employment law for seven years at La Cité Collégiale, a local college of applied arts and technology, and continues to serve his community as an elected director and Vice-President of a condominium board in Ottawa since 2009.
