With the coming of fine summer weather, there also comes an increase in the number of motorcycles on the road. Unfortunately, when a motorcycle is involved in an accident, the outcome is seldom good for its rider or passenger. Additionally, any traffic accident, regardless of the type of vehicle involved, can turn into a complicated affair involving the law and insurance companies.

An accident happened on July 17, 2016 involving three cars and a motorcycle. The incident took place at 4:35 p.m. at the Highway 174 off-ramp to Montreal Road near Beacon Heights, east of Ottawa. No serious injuries to any of the occupants of the cars were reported; however, the motorcycle driver and a passenger were killed.

Ottawa police identified the victims only as a 49-year old male, who was the driver, and a 34-year old woman. Montreal Road was closed in both directions, as was the off-ramp from the highway while police conducted an investigation. Witnesses are being sought by Ottawa Police in hopes of shedding some light on what happened.

A fatal accident is always a tragic event and a very emotional time for those left behind. Still, there are many details that need to be handled in the aftermath of an accident, whether in Ontario or elsewhere. There may be legal proceedings with which to contend if the accident was found to be the result of negligence, and insurance companies may also need to be involved. A trying time like this can sometimes be made easier with the assistance of a legal professional.
