OPP increased over holiday weekend

n

Each year on the first of July residents throughout the nation celebrate Canada Day. In the course of observing the long holiday weekend, it is not uncommon for people to spend time with friends and family. Regardless of whether people travelled short or long distances to get to these gatherings, there is always a potential that they could be involved in a collision with another vehicle. It is possible these collisions could result in serious injuries to those involved.

In an effort to keep incidents of this nature to a minimum, the OPP increased its patrol. Among other things, they watched for:

  • Speeding
  • Drunk drivers
  • Reckless driving

Though the statistics for this year’s Canada Day long weekend are not yet available, there is good reason for authorities to take the course of action. Over the course of 2015, 4,000 charges for racing were laid against drivers. In addition, a total of 250,000 charges of speeding were laid.

When the injuries suffered in a crash are severe, it can be difficult to know what to do after the accident. While seeking the necessary medical care is of course of utmost importance, in some cases it may be able to take legal action as well. A personal injury lawsuit may make sense if the negligence of another is to blame for the injuries that ultimately occurred. Since most people are not familiar the steps that are necessary to take when pursuing this course of action, it is generally advisable to contact a personal injury lawyer for assistance.
