J.F. Lalonde is a Partner at Vice & Hunter LLP and a seasoned litigator with a practice spanning civil litigation, employment law, commercial and corporate disputes, and municipal law. Fluently bilingual in English and French, he serves clients across Ontario in both official languages.
J.F. has built a reputation as a formidable advocate. Between June 2021 and December 2025, he won ten consecutive appeals before the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Divisional Court — including three cases in which he persuaded the appellate court to overturn lower court decisions. This record reflects both his analytical rigour and his ability to identify and argue the issues that matter most.
His corporate litigation practice covers complex matters including shareholder disputes, oppression remedies, derivative actions, and restructuring and insolvency proceedings. J.F. also acts for municipalities in high-stakes litigation involving major capital projects, such as the design and construction of wastewater treatment systems and bridges.
In employment law, J.F. advises and represents both employers and employees on wrongful dismissal, severance packages, employment standards compliance, disability management, and human rights matters. His dual-sided practice gives him a strategic perspective that clients — whether facing a dispute or trying to avoid one — consistently find valuable.
J.F. received his LL.B. from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law in 2004, following an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the same institution. He has taught employment law at La Cité Collégiale for over seven years, and has served as an elected director and Vice-President of a condominium board in Ottawa since 2009.
